Test your Portable Air Compressor

In our last post, we gave you several reasons why camping in the fall was the best. We gushed about the fact that when you camp in the fall you avoid crowds, don’t have to deal with flying insects and can enjoy your favorite fall comfort foods around a roaring fire in the evening.

Fall camping is the bomb. However, when you do go on a camping trip in the fall, you need to properly prepare for your trip. Camping in the fall is a great way to extend your outdoor adventure, but it will take a little extra preparation.

To help you out, Air Armor offers you a few tips to make sure your fall camping trip is a total success.

All the Right Gear

While only packing a pair of shorts and a few t-shirts will probably get you by on your summer camping trip, it is hardly what you will need for a fall camping trip.

The key to fall camping and the cooler weather you will have to ensure is layering. Layering is key to staying warm and comfortable while camping in the fall. You will want to avoid cotton and instead pack plenty of wool, fleece and synthetic materials that will help keep you dry and warm.

A few essential items include thermal underwear, a fleece jacket, winter cap and raincoat and rain pants. It could get quite cold depending on how far into the season you go camping and which part of the country you camp, so play it safe by bringing gloves, winter boots and a winter coat as well.

Test Your Equipment

Set up a campsite in your backyard before your trip and make sure everything is functioning properly. Set up your tent and test all of the zippers to ensure they go all the way up and all the way down smoothly. You will even want to turn the hose on your tent to make sure there are no water leaks.

Check all of your cooking gear, flashlights and any other electronic devices you are bringing along to make sure they work and have fresh batteries.

You even want to unpack your portable electric air compressor and check that out as well. You will be doing some 4-wheeling when you go camping in the fall, you will want to make sure your air compressor is in good working order and up to the task of filling your tires.

Cold-Weather Sleeping Bag

Always pack a sleeping bag that will keep you warm in temperatures that may go below what you are expecting. You don't want to be caught with a sleeping bag rated for 30 degrees are higher and freeze through the night when temperatures dropped to 20 degrees.

Make a List

As with any other camping trip, you will want to make a list of the things you need to bring along. This list a probably a little more important when going camping in the fall. You would hate to get to the campsite only to discover you forgot to bring a winter hat or waterproof boots.

You will need a physical list written on actual paper and the items should be crossed off as they are loaded into your truck.

Be Prepared for Rain

While summer camping trips mean the occasional sudden thunderstorm, fall camping trips can mean an occasional rainy day.

For this reason, invest in a rain cover for your backpack and bring along a few tarps to protect your other gear and to tie up to provide shelter. You will also want to bring along garbage bags and zip-lock baggies to protect other items like electronics.

Find an Awesome Location

No matter what part of the country you live, find a camping site where you can enjoy the beauties fall has to offer. That is, you want to find a camping area with plenty of changing trees and all of the fall recreation you love to do.

If you love to hike and view the changing of the aspen trees, then find a campsite that offers plenty of aspen trees. If you love to hit the trails in your truck, then, by all means, find a campsite with plenty of 4x4 trails.

Not Having a 12V Air Compressor Might Ruin Your Day

Nothing will ruin a perfectly good day faster than a flat tire. We don’t care what time of day it happens, where it happens or who you are with when it happens, getting a flat tire deflates whatever good mood you are in.

Don’t Over Think It - It’s Just a Tire Inflator

January 15, 2019

When we set out to build the Air Armor M240 air compressor we started with the question, what should this thing do? Our answer was, it should be durable, be able to be tossed into a truck or mounted on a jeep. It should have some room to keep some tools or a beer dry. But, most important, it should do what it’s intended to do…. inflate a tire!
